01 About
I’m an engineer who started with microcontrollers and C, and never quite left the low level. For the last eighteen years I’ve built cryptographic software and hardware. In 2013 I co-founded Procenne, where we design and manufacture hardware security modules — we’ve grown from three people to a hundred-plus, backed by investors at a $40M+ valuation (2022). Part of that work spun out into a payment-systems company that was later acquired.
As in most young companies, the early years left no room for specialists: I worked across mechanical design, electronics, digital design, and firmware. Later my job became building the teams that replaced me — electronics, mechanical, software, certification, production. The generalist streak stuck; I’m still happiest anywhere between a PCB and a business plan. The depth never went anywhere either — our Common Criteria EAL4+ and PCI HSM v3 certifications started at my desk and finished with the team I built for them.
These days my lab time goes to autonomous vehicles — the machines and the ecosystems they need. The lab shelves hold the other obsession: a computer-history collection, more than a thousand pieces, from an Intel C4004 onward.
